About The Keyboard Coach

Less clicking. More doing.

The Keyboard Coach is a free, focused place to learn the Windows keyboard shortcuts that genuinely save time in Microsoft 365. We skip the obscure ones and teach the moves that turn everyday tasks into a single keystroke.

Why keyboard shortcuts?

Every time you reach for the mouse, hunt through a ribbon and click back, you lose a few seconds and a little focus. Across a working day, that adds up to hours every month.

Shortcuts put the most common actions straight under your fingers. The trouble is that most lists are overwhelming. The Keyboard Coach is different: shortcuts are organised by app and task, ranked by how much time they save, and paired with practice so they actually stick.

Everything you need to build the habit

Learning shortcuts is about repetition, not memorising a list. So we made the repetition enjoyable.

A curated catalogue

Browse by app and task, filter by time-saving tier, and search instantly for the shortcut you need.

Practice mode

Test yourself with multiple choice, or build real muscle memory by pressing the keys for each action.

XP, streaks & trophies

Daily drills, weekly challenges and achievements keep you coming back and make progress visible.

Private by design

No accounts and no sign-up. Your progress is stored on your own device, not on our servers. Read our privacy policy.

How it works

A few minutes a day is all it takes.

Pick an app

Start with the tool you use most. Excel, Outlook and Teams are popular first choices.

Learn a handful

Focus on the top time-savers first. Save the ones you want to learn to your personal list.

Practise daily

Short drills turn "I know that one" into "my fingers do it automatically".

Master & move on

Mark shortcuts as mastered, earn XP and unlock the next level.

How we check our shortcuts

A shortcut that doesn't work wastes more time than it saves, so accuracy comes first.

  • Checked against Microsoft's own documentation. Every one of the 450 shortcuts in the catalogue is compared with the official Microsoft Support keyboard shortcut article for its app. The last full check was completed on 30 September 2026.
  • Mac shortcuts are never guessed. Swapping Ctrl for Cmd is wrong surprisingly often. We show a Mac shortcut only where Microsoft documents one for the Mac version of the app. Where it doesn't, we say so and show the Windows keys instead.
  • Guides carry a review date. Each how-to guide shows when it was last reviewed. Microsoft 365 changes frequently, and we update guides when menus move or shortcuts change.
  • Independent. The Keyboard Coach is not affiliated with or endorsed by Microsoft. Advertising on the site helps keep it free and has no influence on what we recommend.
  • Corrections welcome. If a shortcut doesn't work for you, email [email protected] with the app and version you use. We check every report and fix confirmed errors.
